PC Cleaner

Your computer is tracking all your activities. Anyone who can touch your computer can know the web sites you have visited and any images or videos you have ever viewed. They will also know which files you have just opened in Office and many other applications. All these tracks are stored in your hard disk. Just emptying the Recycle Bin and deleting the Internet cache in your web browser will not completely protect you. Even if your hard disk is formatted, others can know your past activities using some tools even several years later.

Max Net Shield PC Cleaner is a complete internet eraser which includes an internet cleaner, history eraser, and track eraser to do a complete internet cleanup. A copy of internet cookies, internet history and temporary internet files are kept in databases called index.dat and you have no way of deleting them while Windows is running. You can delete internet cookies, temporary internet files or internet history but the copy will remain untouched in index.dat files.

Designed to run on Windows 9x/ME/NT/2000/XP, Max Net Shield PC Cleaner shows all of the internet tracks you have left behind and deletes them securely.

Max Net Shield File Encryption

Use 128-bit encryption to keep your sanity and your files safe!

File Security brings state-of-the-art encryption and decryption to home and corporate users. Since File Security has essentially no learning curve, users can immediately begin to encrypt and secure their most important files. Home users would benefit by using File Security to encrypt their banking information, e-mail documents, and any other file with special personal value.

File Security uses a third-party ActiveX control with a maximum key length of 128-bits to encrypt your files. This encryption control is unbreakable and will provide all users with peace of mind.

In addition to encrypting and decrypting files, File Security can also make self-extracting encrypted files. This feature would be helpful if you need to e-mail an encrypted file to a friend or colleague who does not have File Encryption/Decryption.

Using Max Net Shield

Settings

There are 6 tabs on the Settings screen : IE & MSN, Netscape, Opera, AOL, Windows and Other Settings.

Each tab is described below:

IE & MSN, Netscape, Opera and AOL tabs have similar options.

bullet Location Bar History is where the web sites you have visited are stored.
bullet Cookies are files where some sort of information about you is stored. The information stored in internet cookies can be your IP address, your internet browser type, if Java is active, etc. When you visit an internet site for the first time, the site might plant an internet cookie in your computer. If you visit the same internet site again, that site will read the internet cookie and recognize you. In other words your anonymous surfing is not ensured. PC Cleaner lets you delete internet cookies securely and saves the ones you want to keep.
bullet Temporary Internet Files (Cache) are exact copies of internet pages including all the pictures, advertisements etc. These downloaded internet pages are located in a folder called Temporary Internet Files (also called internet cache). PC Cleaner lets you delete temporary internet files securely.
bullet Internet History is where Windows keeps shortcuts to internet pages you have visited in a folder called History. PC Cleaner lets you delete internet history securely.
bullet Favorites are links to favorite sites which you often visit. PC Cleaner lets you delete favorites securely.
bullet AutoComplete Memory The AutoComplete feature saves previous entries you've made for Web addresses, forms, and passwords. When you type information in one of these fields, AutoComplete suggests possible matches. These matches can include folder and program names you type in the Address bar, search queries, stock quotes, or information for just about any other field you fill in on a Web page. PC Cleaner lets you delete AutoComplete files securely.
bullet Plug-ins Browsers sometimes use plug-ins to provide some functions that the browser itself cannot provide, for example, some chat room and games may use plug-ins to accomplish special functions.
bullet Set Home Page Helps in setting your home page. Your home page is the page that you will see each time the browser opens.

Windows tab is where you can customize how Max Net Shield cleans your Windows files.

bullet Index.dat Stores information about what web sites you have visited and what cookies have been saved. The index.dat files are always locked by the system and cannot be deleted while Windows is running. PC Cleaner lets you clean index.dat files securely.
bullet Recycle Bin Stores files and/or folders deleted from the system and unnecessarily takes up space.
bullet Recent Document list The last 15 document files that you have accessed get stored in the recent document list from which any file can be reopened simply by clicking the name of the file. PC Cleaner removes this list and recovers space.
bullet Windows Temp Directory Windows and most applications saves their temp files to this folder which will grow to a large amount of disk space if you don't clean it regularly.
bullet Start Menu Run History Windows stores programs you have ran in the start menu run text box. PC Cleaner lets you clean this list securely.

Other Settings tab includes other settings such as reboot and startup settings.

bullet Do not reboot This option prevents rebooting of PC after files are erased.
bullet Reboot after confirmation This option asks for confirmation whether to reboot or not.
bullet Run at Startup This option enables Max Net Shield to load as soon as Windows loads.
bullet Run in Stealth Mode This option allows the user to provide a password and run software in stealth mode.
bullet Show Icon in System Tray This option provides user to show system tray icon option
bullet Minimize to System Tray when Started This option allows user to minimize the main screen and show icon in systray.

Spy Killer

The Spy Killer title screen shows three buttons which lead to different sections:

bullet Scan Now For a quick start using your default scanning settings, click this button.
bullet Backups Use this option to organize, restore or delete your backups.
bullet Configuration Click this button to open the preferences menu.
bullet Shield Prevent certain types of spyware / adware from being downloaded
bullet Remove Shield Allows these types of spyware /adware to be downloaded

Setting the scanning options

When you start Spy Killer the first time, no sections to scan are specified. Select which sections you want Spy Killer to scan in the list at the left side. Initially you should select the memory-scan, both registry scans and the drive where your Windows installation resides. It is not necessary to always scan all drives, but recommended from time to time. Your scanning settings will be stored and used the next time when Spy Killer is started. If you have Spy Killer autostarting with Windows, the same settings will be used.

Note: The only exception is if you run Spy Killer from the explorer by right-clicking a drive or folder. In this case only the particular drive\folder will be scanned, but your scanning settings will not be overwritten and used again when Spy Killer is started regulary the next time.

A grayed icon means that some, but not all subsections are selected. For example, check the "My computer" icon to quickly set Spy Killer for a complete system scan. To start scanning, press the appropriate Button in the title screen.

While scanning...

Depending on your selection, the scan may take from a second up to a few minutes. The progress bar indicates the remaining time for the current operation. Watch the "summary" section while scanning, it gives you an overview about detected spyware components. Once the scan is complete, you should take a look in the log file Spy Killer has generated. If spyware has been detected, it is recommended to save it to disk for later analysis. Click the "continue" button to obtain a list of all detected components (if any).

Note : To abort scanning, click the "Cancel" button to return to the title screen immediately.

Reinstalling components from a backup

If you wish to reinstall components you previously removed using Spy Killer, open the backup-manager from the title screen, and choose the desired backup in the following list. After selecting the backup, click the "Restore" button to start the installation.

Editing the "Ignorelist"

Sometimes you want to keep an particular snoopware system remaining on your system, and don't want Spy Killer to detect its components over and over again. For this purpose an ignorelist has been implemented in Spy Killer. You find the ignorelist under configuration\ignorelist.

Any item in this list will be treated separately by Spy Killer, it will still be recognized, but not show up in the scan-result list and it won't be able to be removed.

File Encryption

Encrypting files You just need to provide the source and destination files and a password. Clicking Encrypt button will do the job.

Decrypting files Select the encrypted file as the source and provide the required password and a destination. Then click the Decrypt button to decrypt the encrypted file.

Encrypting folders To encrypt a folder, you have to specify the folder as the source and then provide a destination and a password. Then click the Encrypt button to encrypt the specified folder.

Decrypting folders Decrypting folders is a process just opposite to encrypting folders. So, just select any encrypted folder as the source, provide the password and a destination, and then click the Decrypt button to restore the file to its original content before encryption.
